2007 Microsoft Office System Beta 2 Test Drive

Been wondering about the changes in the upcoming version of office? You can take an online test drive of Office 2007: 2007 Microsoft Office System Beta 2 Test Drive.

I haven't been able to get it to work on my Mac on Firefox, so it must require Windows.

Dennis gets a MacBook Pro

Apple has seen fit to send Dennis Kennedy MacBook Pro to see how it fits into the practice of law. Looks positive so far. One of the big problems with using a Mac in a law firm has always been case management software. CaseMap goes a long way in fixing this issue, but if your firm is tied to ProLaw or TimeMatters your are still going have to dual boot or use a solution like Pallels.

Update: Thanks to Kevin O'Keefe for the link. Kevin I'd send you a trackback ping but I've never figured it out.

Kevin is right. NetNewswire and MarsEdit make a great pair.

For the record I'm a Mac user. My first law firm IT jobs was at a firm that only had Macs (back in the days of OS 9). The only Windows box we had was the one that ran the call accounting system.

I presently have the only Mac at the firm where I now work. Purchased with my own money. There are many tools that are Mac only that I really can't live with out. A good example is Apple Remote Desktop. It works great to manage Windows machines.

There is plenty of room for Mac in the practice of law and especially the practice of law firm IT.
